OT 5100 ENGLISH BIBLE: GENESIS
This course explores the history, theology and relevance of the book of Genesis as a key component for understanding the Judeo-Christian faith. Special attention is given to the following topics: composition and formation; contents; interrelationship within the Pentateuch; ancient Near Eastern historical and cultural context; literary genres and framework; historical and theological issues, including the character of God, “salvation history,” the forgiveness of sin, the relationship between law and grace, and between faith and righteousness; the use of the book in the New Testament.
