TEDS CH5060: American Church History

Wednesdays, September 1-December 15 · 6:30-9:15 pm · B224b/B226b

How has the Church in the United States responded to Jesus’s prayer in John 17 that his followers be unified? Puritans sought to share the gospel with Native Americans while both slaveowners and abolitionists used the Bible to justify their views on slavery. This course examines the growth of Christianity from its earliest Protestant roots through the present day to understand how the body of Christ here has responded to the opportunities available to it in this increasingly pluralistic society.
