December 2016 YoPro MKE Talk
This year, we have talked about relationships, racism, political divides and more. But how can we possibly step across the aisle of our differences and be the community of Christ unless we learn the vital skill of empathy? One of the unseen things that holds us back from empathy is our own bias. Not one of us can truly claim to be an unbiased observer of life. Instead, we have a unique lens that has been developed over time: we jump to conclusions, we rationalize, we observe, we (often automatically) respond.
What would our church, our community, our relationships, and our understanding of the Bible look like if we were to acknowledge our biases and, in doing so, learn greater levels of empathy? Milwaukee-area Pastor Brandon Brown brings a message on the ladder of inference and what that means for millennial believers.
