Grace & Peace

Read Isaiah 30:18 and Isaiah 9:7

In this year’s Advent devotional and sermon series, “Who Is He?”, we are exploring the titles of the Messiah as prophesied by Isaiah. The names that we read in Isaiah 9:7—Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace—help us develop a well-rounded understanding of who Jesus is and the impact He has on our lives.

As we reflect on the title “Prince of Peace,” Isaiah’s words remind us that Jesus’ reign is one of peace and justice that knows no end. In the chaos of our modern lives, we are invited to rest in the unshakable peace of His kingdom. But Isaiah 30:18 also reveals God’s desire to show us grace in our waiting. Even when we struggle to see His plan, we can trust that His justice and compassion are working on our behalf.

In my own life, I have found that waiting often brings its own kind of peace, a quiet trust in God’s timing. In this Advent season, we are reminded to lean into the peace Jesus offers, trusting that His reign is just and gracious.

For reflection:

  • In this season of waiting, where do you need to invite the Prince of Peace into your heart?
  • How can you embrace God’s justice and compassion in your life?
