DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. 1. Start your discussion with one of these questions:
    1. Who is one person that mentored your life of faith?
    2. Give one example of how they invested in you.
  2. This week in our series, “Jesus Changes Everything,” we look at the kingdom perspective of multiplication. Whether you are on your own or with a small group, begin your study in prayer and ask God to draw you into His truth and life.
  3. In Mark 4, Jesus gives a parable of the sower to a crowd of people around a lake. Read Mark 4:1-20. What stands out to you in regard to this parable about a farmer?
  4. Focus on verses 10-12 in Mark 4. What is the secret that is found in the story that Jesus told? Why do you think Jesus shared this kingdom perspective to only a smaller group of people?
  5. There are challenges that we face in our world that often keep us from embracing the concept of call of multiplication:
    1. Mark 4:19—worries of life, challenges from culture, earthly desires
    2. What challenges can you relate to or have you struggled with personally?
  6. In Mark 10:17-22, Jesus encounters a rich young man. What was the focus of this man? What did Jesus call him to do?
  7. Do you think the young man was aware of why Jesus called him to give to others? Why do you think Jesus called him to do this? There would have been a return on the investment, if the young man had given/shared his wealth? What would that return have been?
  8. Are you investing in a way that pays off immediate or in a way that has an eternal return, treasure? How can we continue to adopt and encourage an eternal kingdom perspective in how we invest our time, talents, money, energy, and passion?
  9. How are you currently multiplying yourself; who are you investing and pouring your life into? Who do you have who is doing the same with you?
  10. Read Matthew 28:18-20 in closing. Jesus defeats death and sin and delivers victory and these words. Pray for one another, our church, and God’s people around the world to rely and believe and trust in His power to bring multiplication!
