What We Believe

What We Believe

There are many ministries, people, and facets of Eastbrook Church, but we all have only one mission:

TO PROCLAIM AND EMBODY THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST IN THE CITY AND IN THE WORLD.

Statement of Faith:

About SCRIPTURE

We believe in the Scriptures, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:162 Peter 1:21)

About GOD

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4Matthew 3:11-17)

About Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true Man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate, and in the person of the Holy Spirit, He indwells the believer. (Luke 2:52John 4:6Hebrews 5:8John 1:3John 20:2)

About the Holy Spirit

We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict, regenerate, seal, indwell, guide, instruct and empower for life and service. (John 14:26Romans 8:14John 16:8John 3:5-6)

About Mankind

We believe mankind was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore spiritually dead. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. (Romans 5:12-21)

About salvation

We believe the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation of believers and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. (John 3:16Romans 5:10-112 Corinthians 5:18-20Galatians 4:4-6)

About Ordinances

We believe water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation. Water baptism shall be a prerequisite for church membership. While other forms of water baptism are acceptable for church membership, this church shall practice believer’s baptism by immersion. (Acts 16:30-331 Corinthians 11:23-26)

About the Church

We believe the true Church is composed of all such persons who are regenerated by the Holy Spirit through saving faith in Jesus Christ, united together in the Body of Christ of which He is Lord and Head, and commissioned for the God-given task of proclaiming the Gospel to every person. Only thus members of the true Church are eligible for membership in the local church. Every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs. (1 Corinthians 12:13)

About CHRIST’S RETURN

We believe in the personal and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. (1John 2:28Acts 1:9-11)

About JUDGMENT

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead: of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and eternal separation from God. (John 5:28-29Revelation 20:11-15)

Our Vision:

BECOMING 7

We are aiming to become a more vibrant, diverse, multi-ethnic church with an impact on the city of Milwaukee and the world.(Revelation 7:9-10)

GROWING DISCIPLES

We are aiming to make new disciples and grow current disciples deeper as evidenced by increased conversions, baptisms, small group participation, and God stories. (Matthew 28:18-20)

REACHING OUT

We are aiming to reach beyond ourselves through missional engagement in our neighborhood, city, and world through evangelism, community outreach, and online ministry platforms. (Acts 1:8)

MULTIPLYING LEADERS

We are aiming to make leadership growth a priority through intentional recruitment and training of staff, ministry volunteers, ministry residents, and interns.(2 Timothy 2:2)

CHURCH ENGAGEMENT

We are aiming to increase levels of engagement at Eastbrook Church as reflected in attendance, serving, and giving. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
