It is good to receive a kick in the tail sometimes when you need it. So, too, in our spiritual lives, sometimes we need a good warning and a good push to keep moving toward maturity.
Hebrews 5:11-6:12

Hebrews 5:11-14
- Hebrews are challenged to grow deeper in their faith
- Expectation of where they should be vs. where they are
Elementary Teachings (6:1-3)
- Repentance and faith in God
- Cleansing rites and laying on of hands
- Resurrection of dead and eternal judgment
Warning of Apostasy (6:4-8)
- Impossible to be restored if you have
- Been enlightened
- Tasted the heavenly gift
- Shared in the Holy Spirit
Authors Encouragement (6:9-12)
- Things of salvation
- God sees the work that we do
- Be people of patient hopeful faith
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- Before you study the scripture, take some time to pray to God and ask Him to speak to you during this time.
- Read Hebrews 5:11-6:12 aloud in whatever translation you have in front of you.
- In verse 13-12 of chapter 5 the author gives an analogy f going from milk to solid food. What does this have to do with our spiritual growth?
- The author mentions three pairings of elementary teachings in 6:2, write them down.
- Out of these elementary teachings, which one have you in your faith struggled to have a deeper understanding of?
- Read 6:4-6 aloud. These are some heavy verses, at first glance how does it make you feel reading these?
- Take a moment out of these verses to pause in this study and spend time in prayer to God asking Him to strengthen your faith for times where you struggle to believe.
- Read 6:9-10 out loud. There is a sudden shift in the passage, what is this sudden shift?
- Look at verse 10. How does it encourage you that God will not forget the work that you have done?
- Read verse 11 aloud. What does the author mean by the phrase “what you hope for may be fully realized?”
