DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Take time to reflect and think about an area of your faith that you feel is most important. Share it with the group, and why you feel it is most important.
  2. After listening to each other, take time to point out observations you had about what other people felt is most important. What stuck out to you? How have you seen this strength lived out?
  3. Now go back and share how it became to be so important in your life. Who modeled it for you? What experiences shaped this in you? How have you seen God move through this aspect of your faith?
  4. After sharing, take time to observe or point out the differences. What are some strengths or areas of faith that were shared that are actually blindspots or even weaknesses in your faith?
  5. How can you invite others to bring their greatest strengths to bless your walk with God? How have you experienced this?
  6. Now, as you look out at the broader church, are there areas where your strengths could be needed? It doesn’t have to be missions, but any area of ministry. How could you step out more and offer these parts of yourself to our greater church body and family?

DIG DEEPER

  • Exploring Faith. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians is incredibly practical for a church that was just beginning to understand what it meant to be a community. Go back and read the whole book of 1 Corinthians throughout the week and reflect on it.
  • Growing in Faith. This week take a deeper look into the local outreach ministries of Eastbrook or ways that people closest to you are reaching out. How can you step out and offer your strengths to what God is doing through them?
  • Deepening in Faith. Spend time reflecting and dialoguing with God. In what ways have you been shaped and formed by the strengths of others? Have you allowed that to harden your heart towards other strengths or approaches? Spend time with God and see if there are areas he’s inviting you to be renewed or softened.
